Sciencie - NASA Project

Since 2009 we have been participating with great enthusiasm in the Latin American Space Challenge. This competition, organized by NASA, seeks to awaken in young people new concerns, inviting them to design a Spatial Establishment that humans can inhabit in the not too distant future along the different points of our Solar System. This is how works have been presented on the surface of Mars, orbiting Mercury; and on the surface of Europe, Jupiter`s natural satellite.

The first instance of this contest is the regional competition. Our students have participated and presented designs and, in more than one opportunity in these years, they have obtained the first prize in Latin America, thus being classified for the Final in the USA. Therefore our students not only have represented the school, but also our country and the entire South American continent in the final instance of this event.

Our students have traveled to the facilities of NASA both in Houston (Texas) and Cape Canaveral (Florida), where they have worked on the design of a new Space Establishment together with students from the United States, England, Australia and India, forming part of international companies obtaining great achievements in each of the trips made.

There are 2 aspects of this competition that are important to highlight:

First, it is a contest which requires effort, work and dedication. The students come to school and work during the holidays, dedicating their free time to the project.

Second, this project covers all disciplines: science, art, sports, computer science. This implies that there is room for all tastes and for all strengths.
